Pictures of our projects

June 28, 2008 Leave a comment

I just thought that I would share some pictures of our completed projects that we did a while back. The pictures were taken on June 6.

This is a picture of the flower bed that I made with the BF’s help. I have to give him some credit because he helped with the dirt and the stones. This was all grass that had to be dug up and we added dirt because underneath the sod was clay. 😦

The flowers are blooming nicely now. I had to transplant some smaller snap dragons to a different spot because they were crowding each other.

A Closeup

The bottom photo:

This was all grass/sod that I dug up. This design and idea was the BF’s. The last two trees on the right were already there. We added the 3 on the left.

Breathing ain’t easy

June 26, 2008 Leave a comment

It has been muggy the last two days. So my allergies have not been kind to me. I awoke this morning feeling like I can’t take a complete breath. It’s come and gone all day. Now, that I am home in the air conditioning it is better. Then, the boyfriend come in and lights up a cigarette. I can’t breath very well again!

I hate cigarettes. Have I ever mentioned that? If not then let me go on record as such. I can’t stand them. They are bad for the person smoking them and the people around them. Have a care! Go outside and definitely don’t smoke around your kids.

The BF smokes around our son and he shouldn’t. Our son is on Singulair for the summer because of allergies. This winter, he had to use a breathing machine (I’m not sure the exact name of it) with albuterol. I’ve told the BF that he shouldn’t smoke around our son but he doesn’t listen.

Far Behind

This song doesn’t have special meaning. I just happen to like it. At the bottom of the post, you will find a Youtube video with the song and the lyrics. I hope you like it.

Enjoy!

Far Behind

by Candlebox

Now maybe
I didn’t mean to treat you bad
But I did it anyway
And then maybe
Some would say your life was sad
But you lived it anyway
And so maybe
Your friends they stand around they watch you crumble
As you falter down to the ground
And then someday
Your friends they stand beside as you were flying
Oh you were flying oh so high
But then someday people look at you for what they call their own
They watch you suffer
Yeah they hear you calling home
And then some day we could take our time
To brush the leaves aside so you can reach us
But you left me far behind

Now maybe
I didn’t mean to treat you oh so bad
But I did it anyway
Now maybe some would say you’re left with what you had
But you couldn’t share the pain

No, no, no
Couldn’t share the pain, they watch you suffer
Now maybe I could have made my own mistakes
But I live with what I’ve known
And then maybe we might share in something rare
But won’t you look at where we’ve grown
Won’t you look at where we’ve gone
But then someday comes
Tomorrow holds a sense of what I feel for you in my mind
As you trip the final line
And that cold day when you lost control
Shame you left my life so soon you should have told me
But you left me far behind

Now maybe I didn’t mean to treat you oh so bad
But I did it anyway
Now maybe some would say you’re left with what you had
But you couldn’t share the pain No, no, no

Now maybe I didn’t mean to treat you oh so bad
But I did it anyway
Now maybe baby some would say you’re left with what you had
But you couldn’t share the pain
I said times have changed your friends
They come and watch you crumble to the ground
They watch you suffer
Yeah, they hold you down
Hold you down
Now maybe oh oh, maybe
I didn’t mean to treat you bad
But you left me far behind
Left me far behind
Left me far behind

Reading is a necessity

June 22, 2008 Leave a comment

I’ve been doing a lot of reading since winter. I wanted to start reading on a regular basis again. We have an okay library here in town and since I couldn’t afford to buy books like usually do, I borrowed them from the library. First, I started with the Bridgerton series by Julia Quinn which I enjoyed a lot. After reading all of that series, I was lucky enough to come across the Cynster series, which has to be one of my favorite series of all time by Stephanie Laurens, who is now one of my favorite authors. Stephanie Laurens also wrote The Bastion Club series, which I’ve also had the pleasure of reading. I am impatiently waiting for, The Edge of Desire, the 7th book of this series to be released on August 26th.

All of the above books, that I mentioned, are romance novels. I started reading the Lord John series by Anne Rice but I could never get by hands on the 3rd book so I gave up and started on the romance novels. I tend to check out 3 at a time. Since, they are so thick, it usually takes me almost 2 weeks to read them but not always. The 3 books that I recently checked out were thinner books and I almost done reading them all. I am on the 3rd one now, so I expect to be back at the library Tuesday if not on Wednesday. If I do finish it by then, it has only taken me 9 days to read them all.

Healing takes time

Pnut’s sunburn is much better. Most of the redness is gone. Despite, my lovingly applying lotion and aloe to his skin, I noticed this morning that it has begun to peel. His shirt has taken care of a lot of the peeling, this late in the day.  I’ve tried to keep him out of the sun, which hasn’t been too hard since it’s rained most of the week here.

The last two days, we have been going for bike rides. It is a lot easier to take P’nut for bike rides since he no longer has training wheels to contend with. I get more benefit from riding since I don’t have to just coast along.

Last weekend, when I was visiting my mother, I retrieved my laptop from my sister. I am using it now. I have to say, it’s nice to sit in bed and be able to use my laptop. I miss having a mouse though as I’ve never quite gotten used to using the touch pad on the laptop. It’s a nuisance to me and not easy for me to use. I guess it would just take time to finally get used. I am thinking the laptop would be better to use for my hands than the desktops because everything is close by and I don’t have to reach for anything. I’ve finally figured out why my laptop kept locking up before I took it to my sister. The wireless card that I was using in my PCMCIA card slot  was making it overheat or something. As long as I don’t use the wireless card, the laptop is fine. I am using a network cable that I’ve hooked up from the router. I am going to look into a USB wireless dongle.

The perils of others watching your kids

Our babysitter let Pnut get sunburned on Monday. He was out at their blow up pool all day and she didn’t put sunscreen on him. He has blisters on his shoulders and his whole back is severely sunburned. He hasn’t slept good so that means I haven’t slept good because I have a visitor in my bed every night, telling me, “Mom, my back hurts”. I am putting Aloe Vera gel on him when I can and Gold Bond body lotion that soothes and cools. Boy! Lemme tell you it really cools too! It’s triple action relief for extra dry and itchy skin. I am also using it on his eczema. I don’t usually spend $8.99 on a bottle of lotion but I would do anything at this point to make his pain go away.

More than a little proud

June 12, 2008 1 comment

My lil pnut, my beautiful, wonderful son can now ride a bike without training wheels. Of course, his legs are now covered with bruises. He has been at my mother’s since Sunday because of our power outage. He had a bike there which he has never attempted to ride until this week. The daddy and I went there, last night, to take back my brother’s generator. Imagine my surprise when stepping out onto the porch, I see my son flying by on a bike! Not just a leisure ride but actually going full speed. The bike he’s been riding at mom’s is much smaller than the bike daddy bought him recently. It’s a bike that should actually have training wheels. We are going to bring that bike home with us when I go to pick him up this weekend, so he can get better at riding before he graduates to the bigger bike.

Pnut and I will be staying with mom on Friday night if I can get him to stay one more night. Last night, he asked me to come and pick him up, tonight. Daddy told him he had to stay one more day because Daddy had to work Friday. Mom is going to be alone, this weekend so I really would like to stay one night with her.
