Kitty motherly love

July 11, 2008 Leave a comment

At work, on Monday, we discovered two beautiful kittens in a very large cardboard box. One is orange and the other one is gray. I wish that I could bring one of them home but I can’t. A lot of kittens have been adopted from our shop, so hopefully, someone will take pity on them and take them.

We have two tortoise shell calicos at work. We have big momma and anorexic little momma. Neither have names. I just know the difference because of their body shapes. Anyways, little momma is the mother to the kittens but big momma is intent on stealing them even though she doesn’t have milk. Fortunately, if she does suceed they are almost big enough to be weaned. This winter, big momma had two kittens and they were adopted by two different people at work. She looked for them for a week or more. Then she had a black kitten and it was adopted about 2 or 3 weeks ago. Apparently, she wants to be a mom so badly that she’s resorting to adopting other kittens even though she has no milk. I just hope all is well when we return to work on Monday and that the kittens aren’t starving because their mother abandoned them to big momma.

The day after the 4th of July

July 5, 2008 Leave a comment

Lil Pnut and I went to my sister’s house for a cookout, yesterday. We watched two firework shows. My mom and sister’s houses are located between two areas and we were able to see most of both shows.

Today, we came home and tonight, we letoff the little ones, out front in the street that we bought. Pnut enjoyed them and we got it done with minimal fighting.

I was amazed at the number of people letting off fireworks, tonight. We could here them all around the countryside, not far from us and not far from where we lived.

Pictures of our projects

June 28, 2008 Leave a comment

I just thought that I would share some pictures of our completed projects that we did a while back. The pictures were taken on June 6.

This is a picture of the flower bed that I made with the BF’s help. I have to give him some credit because he helped with the dirt and the stones. This was all grass that had to be dug up and we added dirt because underneath the sod was clay. 😦

The flowers are blooming nicely now. I had to transplant some smaller snap dragons to a different spot because they were crowding each other.

A Closeup

The bottom photo:

This was all grass/sod that I dug up. This design and idea was the BF’s. The last two trees on the right were already there. We added the 3 on the left.

Breathing ain’t easy

June 26, 2008 Leave a comment

It has been muggy the last two days. So my allergies have not been kind to me. I awoke this morning feeling like I can’t take a complete breath. It’s come and gone all day. Now, that I am home in the air conditioning it is better. Then, the boyfriend come in and lights up a cigarette. I can’t breath very well again!

I hate cigarettes. Have I ever mentioned that? If not then let me go on record as such. I can’t stand them. They are bad for the person smoking them and the people around them. Have a care! Go outside and definitely don’t smoke around your kids.

The BF smokes around our son and he shouldn’t. Our son is on Singulair for the summer because of allergies. This winter, he had to use a breathing machine (I’m not sure the exact name of it) with albuterol. I’ve told the BF that he shouldn’t smoke around our son but he doesn’t listen.

Far Behind

This song doesn’t have special meaning. I just happen to like it. At the bottom of the post, you will find a Youtube video with the song and the lyrics. I hope you like it.

Enjoy!

Far Behind

by Candlebox

Now maybe
I didn’t mean to treat you bad
But I did it anyway
And then maybe
Some would say your life was sad
But you lived it anyway
And so maybe
Your friends they stand around they watch you crumble
As you falter down to the ground
And then someday
Your friends they stand beside as you were flying
Oh you were flying oh so high
But then someday people look at you for what they call their own
They watch you suffer
Yeah they hear you calling home
And then some day we could take our time
To brush the leaves aside so you can reach us
But you left me far behind

Now maybe
I didn’t mean to treat you oh so bad
But I did it anyway
Now maybe some would say you’re left with what you had
But you couldn’t share the pain

No, no, no
Couldn’t share the pain, they watch you suffer
Now maybe I could have made my own mistakes
But I live with what I’ve known
And then maybe we might share in something rare
But won’t you look at where we’ve grown
Won’t you look at where we’ve gone
But then someday comes
Tomorrow holds a sense of what I feel for you in my mind
As you trip the final line
And that cold day when you lost control
Shame you left my life so soon you should have told me
But you left me far behind

Now maybe I didn’t mean to treat you oh so bad
But I did it anyway
Now maybe some would say you’re left with what you had
But you couldn’t share the pain No, no, no

Now maybe I didn’t mean to treat you oh so bad
But I did it anyway
Now maybe baby some would say you’re left with what you had
But you couldn’t share the pain
I said times have changed your friends
They come and watch you crumble to the ground
They watch you suffer
Yeah, they hold you down
Hold you down
Now maybe oh oh, maybe
I didn’t mean to treat you bad
But you left me far behind
Left me far behind
Left me far behind

Reading is a necessity

June 22, 2008 Leave a comment

I’ve been doing a lot of reading since winter. I wanted to start reading on a regular basis again. We have an okay library here in town and since I couldn’t afford to buy books like usually do, I borrowed them from the library. First, I started with the Bridgerton series by Julia Quinn which I enjoyed a lot. After reading all of that series, I was lucky enough to come across the Cynster series, which has to be one of my favorite series of all time by Stephanie Laurens, who is now one of my favorite authors. Stephanie Laurens also wrote The Bastion Club series, which I’ve also had the pleasure of reading. I am impatiently waiting for, The Edge of Desire, the 7th book of this series to be released on August 26th.

All of the above books, that I mentioned, are romance novels. I started reading the Lord John series by Anne Rice but I could never get by hands on the 3rd book so I gave up and started on the romance novels. I tend to check out 3 at a time. Since, they are so thick, it usually takes me almost 2 weeks to read them but not always. The 3 books that I recently checked out were thinner books and I almost done reading them all. I am on the 3rd one now, so I expect to be back at the library Tuesday if not on Wednesday. If I do finish it by then, it has only taken me 9 days to read them all.
